Orientation is mandatory for all new students entering LSUA with less than 30 earned credit hours. LSUA's Student Ambassadors guide new freshmen through a full day to teach them the ins and outs of being a General.
As a new freshmen, we know starting college can be overwhelming. So, you'll be teamed up with some of our Ambassadors who have mastered the art of being a college student. You'll attend breakout sessions specific to your interests. If you're a student athlete, majoring in the arts, want to know tips to working while being a full-time student, or just want to get involved on campus, our Ambassadors will show you the way. You'll also attended sessions with professionals from the Financial Aid office to learn about how scholarships, grants, TOPS, loans, and other types of aid is processed and what is expected of you to maintain eligibility. A favorite part of orientation is meeting with your Academic Department. You'll get to meet other students, professors, and your department chair to talk and ask questions specific to your major.

Parents/Spouses/Significant Others will NOT be permitted to stay with you during orientation. They will attend a separate Parent Orientation during the day. (Note: Parent Sessions are not offered for Summer Orientation in May.)
Dress comfortably. You’ll be given a t-shirt to change into when you arrive, so shorts and tennis shoes seem to be the most practical. You’ll be walking around campus throughout the day. But if you just want to wear heels and a gorilla suit…you do you.
Check in at the Brumfield Caffey Annex, next to the Student Center. There will be people and signs to guide you along the way.
This is an all-day thing. It begins at 9:00 and ends around 4:00pm. Be prepared to stay the entire time as important information is covered at different times. We know emergencies happen, so if you have to leave, please let an Ambassador or Staff member know. Also...we know when you are lying.
Please indicate any dietary needs or food allergens on your registration form.
If you require any type of special accommodation throughout orientation, we are happy to accommodate but need to know about those prior to your arrival. Please indicate any specific needs on your registration form.
