Good morning Generals:

As a result of the federal Coronavirus Response, Relief, and Supplemental Appropriations Act (“CRRSA Act”), institutions of higher education, including LSUA, have received funds that are to be granted to students who may have experienced a financial hardship due to the Coronavirus pandemic.  The CRRSA is similar to the CARES act that was established last spring; but with a few key differences.  Each eligible LSUA student will receive CRRSAA funds in the upcoming weeks.

In compliance with the guidelines and eligibility requirements set forth by the United States Department of Education (USDOE), the following outlines which students are eligible:

Students who will be receiving CRRSAA awards:

  • Enrolled in a traditional or 100% online program during the spring semester (includes SpringO1 and SpringO2)
  • Degree seeking student

Students who are not eligible:

  • Non-degree seeking student
  • Visiting student
  • Dual enrollment student
  • DACA/International student

Unlike funding from the original CARES Act, CRRSAA funds can be applied directly to an outstanding/past-due student balance. Meaning, each student with a balance will have the option to use their CRRSAA award to pay toward that balance.

Any student fitting in to the eligible categories listed above will receive funding from the CRRSA Act.  LSUA will not be requiring an application process.  If a student meets the criteria, they will receive an award.  LSUA will begin processing awards to students on April 1, 2021.  Please allow up to three weeks for disbursements to be completed.

Award amounts will range from a base level of $350 for all eligible students, up to $850 – depending on the number of credits hours enrolled, as well as the amount of federal aid received for the spring 2021 semester.  An individual email with each student’s specific award amount will be sent within the next 3 business days.  This email will also contain information on how to apply the award to an outstanding balance.

If a student has banking information on-file through myLSUA, funds will be direct deposited into that account.  If banking information isn’t available, a check will be mailed to the address on file.  Banking information may be updated at any time through myLSUA (http://my.lsua.edu).
