Free family access the first Monday of each month for those with disabilities
The Alexandria Museum of Art, in partnership with LSUA, is pleased to announce that with the support of the Central Louisiana Community Foundation, AMoA is opening its doors to the galleries on each first Monday of the month for those with disabilities. While those with special needs are welcome any business day, FAMDay offers parents, children, caregivers (families) to visit the Museum for private, stress-free viewing of the exhibits, free of charge. Specialized interactives and learning stations are also in the gallery for hands-on learning, creative inspiration and engagement, as well as communication tools.
FAMDay was initially designed for those families affected by Autism Spectrum Disorder, but it is ultimately available to any citizen with disabilities (consider it empirical art therapy for the patient and their caregiver). The AMoA is pleased to provide yet another platform for the CENLA community to engage with the visual arts and offer programming that is considerate and inclusive of all community members.
