Fall 2020 Academic Calendar Updated

Sep 1, 2020, 12:08 PM
Deadlines and classes have been moved back to accommodate students

The Louisiana State University of Alexandria academic calendar for Fall 2020 has been revised in an effort to accommodate students impacted by Hurricane Laura.

All classes and other activities are suspended through September 7, and various student deadlines have correspondingly been moved back. This includes deadlines for adding and dropping courses and for payment of Fall B-Term (02) courses. Details are available on the revised calendar.

In addition, the end of each term has been moved back one week:

  • Full Fall semester will now end on December 18, which is the last day of final exams
  • Fall A-Term (01) will now end October 18
  • Fall B-Term (02) will begin October 26, a week later than originally scheduled, and will now end December 13

The date and form of Fall Commencement, originally scheduled for December 17, is yet to be determined due to the ongoing COVID pandemic as well as the calendar changes.

”The calendar revisions reflect the view that no students should have their academic progress unduly disadvantaged by the effects of the hurricane,” said Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, Dr. John Rowan.  “When classes and related activities resume, faculty will work with students to ensure smooth continuation of coursework, and LSUA staff will assist students with issues related to billing, financial aid and other logistical items.”
