Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies

The Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies provides students with the skills needed to carve any career path, satisfy any employer and become their own best advocate.  Opportunities include gaining a broad understanding of the principles of human communication and the practical skills necessary for effective oral and written communication.  Students may choose from the following concentrations:

  • Human Relationships – focuses on navigating interpersonal communication, non-verbal communication, small group communication and more
  • Public Relations – explores strategic communication with emphasis on building relationships and applying theory to practice through the public relations process
  • Sports Broadcasting and Communication – provides opportunities to operate digital broadcasts and video technology to create sports content for distribution over multiple platforms
  • Visual Communication – highlights a variety of mediums including the fields of graphic design and social media

Students pursue diverse paths that include graduate/professional school as well as exciting careers.  Our students work in public relations, multimedia studies, education, law, non-profit work and corporate communications.  This degree offers a variety of hands-on, practical learning opportunities, as well as internships with local businesses.
