CENLA Accountants for the Future Scholarship 

 

Through funding provided through the CENLA Accountants for the Future, scholarships are available to eligible (new or transfer) students planning to enroll in the BS in Accounting program.  The purpose of the scholarships is to recruit and retain outstanding accounting students planning to remain in CENLA and pursue employment in accounting. 

 

Eligibility

The scholarship is available to full-time accounting students planning to enroll in the BS in Accounting program.  Eligibility criteria includes a cumulative GPA of 3.0 (high school or university) and enrolled full time as an on-campus student.  A student must be enrolled in a minimum of 9 hours per semester in on-campus classes.  Students will also be required to write a personal essay that highlights their motivation to pursue a career in accounting and provide high school and/or university transcripts. Recipients will be selected by the Accounting Scholarship Committee made up of at least three members of the Accounting and Business faculty.

Amount of Scholarship

The amount of the scholarship award is $500 per semester (fall and spring). The award is to be used for tuition, fees, books, and/or other expenses incurred as a direct result of the recipient’s enrollment in LSUA’s accounting program.

Retention of Scholarship

The scholarship will be awarded for up to four consecutive semesters with the provision that the student:

  1. Maintains an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  2. Participates in seminars and events hosted by LSUA, such as presentations offered through the Accounting Club, College of Business, CORE, and Career Development.

Loss of Scholarship

The scholarship will be withdrawn for any of the following reasons:

  1. Failure to maintain the required grade point average
  2. Resignation or “dropping out” of the BS in Accounting program
  3. Placement on disciplinary status or on academic probation
