Degree Programs

The Department of Accounting and Finance offers the following programs:

• BS in Accounting
• BS in Accounting with a concentration in Accounting Information Systems and Data Analytics
• BS in Accounting with a concentration in Fraud and Forensic Accounting
• Post Baccalaureate Certificate in Accounting (30 hour program)
• BS in Business Administration with a concentration in Information Systems
• BS in Business Administration with a concentration in Financial Analysis

These programs are available to both traditional and 100% online students and accredited by ACBSP (Accreditation Council of Business Schools and Programs) for excellence in teaching, student learning outcomes, and continuous improvement. The BS in Accounting and the Post-Baccalaureate Certificate are accredited by the ACBSP. The concentrations in Information Systems and Data Analytics and Fraud as well as Forensic and Fraud Accounting are candidates for ACBSP accreditation.

The BS in Accounting equips students with the knowledge and skills necessary for successful completion of the CPA exam and for entry into public accounting, industry, or governmental/not for profit employment.  Its specific objectives are to help students:

 • Prepare financial statements in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
 • Covey financial information clearly to decision makers.
 • Identify managerial and business issues critical to analyzing accounting data.
 • Demonstrate an understanding of current auditing standards and taxation of individuals and business entities.

The BS in Business Administration with concentrations in Information Systems and Financial Analysis equips students to achieve the following objectives:

 • Recognize and analyze ethical problems and choose and defend resolutions for practical situations in accounting, management, and marketing.
 • Conceptualize a complex issue into a coherent written statement and oral presentation.
 • Evaluate the financial position of organizations through examination of balance sheets, cash flow statements, and corporate budgets.
 • Understand the creation of value through the integrated production and distribution of goods, services, and information as they relate to economic, financial, and marketing theory and practice.
 • Through the use of the scientific process, students can acquire data, develop statistical procedures, and provide interpretative information for decision-making processes throughout the entire organization.
 • Recognize the group and individual dynamics that operate in corporate organizations for the purposes of strategic planning, operations and budgets, and market-driven decisions.
 • Recognize the domestic and global environmental variables relative to their impact on organizational decision-making.
 • Additionally, the BS in Business Administration with a concentration in Information Systems provides students with the following objectives:
     • Understand the strategic importance of Information Systems
     • Analyzie and design information system including the practice of project management during team-oriented analysis and design of a departmental level system
     • Complete the analysis and logical design of Database Systems
     • Understand e-business strategy and the development and architecture of e-business solutions and their components
