  • Agnes Solon-Ashby, MD

    Agnes, in addition to her career as a rheumatologist, is currently serving on the Alexandria Country Day School Board of Directors, is a former member of the River Oaks Museum Board of Directors and is a parent coordinator of the Beta Club at Alexandria Country Day School. She is married to Dr. Keith Ashby.

  • Aloysia Ducote, CPA, President

    Aloysia is a Certified Public Accountant,  partner with Ducote & Company, CPA’s, in Marksville, Louisiana and is a graduate of Louisiana State University with a Bachelors of Science in Accounting.  She is a charter Member of Rotary Club of Avoyelles, very active member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and School in Moreauville, Louisiana; Member of Board of the Avoyelles 4-H Foundation, Moreauville Garden Club, and of Waterworks District No 1 in Avoyelles    Parish, Louisiana.  Member of Louisiana  and Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants and American Institute of Certified Public Accountants;  Marksville Chamber of Commerce and Past Member of Board of Trustees of Avoyelles Hospital. She is married to Robert J. Ducote and they have 3 children.

  • Benjamin A. Luke

    Ben received his B.A. in Political Science with a focus in American Government from Louisiana State University Baton Rouge and graduated from Tulane University Law School where he served on the honor Board and was a member of the Student Government Association. Since 2007, Ben has been the sole Member/Manager of Benjamin A. Luke, Attorney at Law, LLC and of Benjamin Luke Abstract & Title Co., LLC. His areas of practice are Real Estate, Will, Successions, Estate law, Asset Protection and Business Law. Ben is also a licensed title insurance agent and abstractor. He has offices Marksville, Alexandria, and Bunkie, LA. He is admitted to practice law in the States of Louisiana and Mississippi. He is a member of many organizations in the community including the LA Independent Land Title Association, currently serving as President; Louisiana State Bar Association; Avoyelles Parish Bar Association; Boy Scouts of America; Central LA Community Foundation; Avoyelles Parish Rotary Club; Marksville Chamber of Commerce; and the Holy Savior Menard High School Advisory Council. He and his wife Celeste have three children. During his free time, Ben enjoys running and attending his children’s cross country meets, hiking, camping, sailing, and canoeing with his sons.

  • Blake Chatelain


    Blake is the President/Chief Executive Officer and one of the founders of Red River Bank based in Alexandria, Louisiana.   Mr. Chatelain is a native of Bunkie, La and started his college career at LSUA before transferring and graduating from LSU, Baton Rouge with a B.S. in Finance. Mr. Chatelain was appointed to the LSU Board of Supervisors by Governor Jindal and is immediate past Chairman of the Board. He also served as an ex-officio member to the Post Secondary Education Review Commission. He is very active in civic organizations past and present with service including the Cenla Advantage Partnership, Rotary, United Way, Caring Peoples Pharmacy and the Red Cross.  Blake is a deacon at Calvary Baptist Church in Alexandria, and he and his wife, Belle, have four sons.

  • Charles S. Weems, III, Immediate Past President

    Charles is President and senior partner of the law firm Gold Weems Bruser Sues & Rundell.  He currently serves as President of the Louisiana State Law Institute, and just concluded a term as Chairman of the England Authority Board of Commissioners.  He is a former Chairman and long-time member of the LSU Board of Supervisors, and is a past President of the Louisiana State Bar Association and the Central Louisiana Chamber of Commerce.  He has served and continues to serve on numerous civic and charitable boards and is the recipient of multiple professional recognitions and honors.

  • Darren Olagues

    Darren has been the Chief Financial Officer and Senior Vice President of Cleco Corporation since May 7, 2009. Mr. Olagues has been the Chief Financial Officer of Cleco Power LLC since May 2009 and serves as its Treasurer. He has been a Senior Vice President of Cleco Midstream Resources LLC and Cleco Power LLC since July 2007. He served as Treasurer of Cleco Corporation from November 2011 to July 16, 2012. He serves as a Director of Energy Insurance Mutual Limited Company. He is a Certified Public Accountant.  Mr. Olagues holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Management from Tulane University in 1992. 

  • Deborah Randolph

    Deborah is the President of the Central Louisiana Chamber of Commerce. She previously owned and operated a governmental affairs consulting business. Prior to that, she served as the state legislative director for CHRISTUS Health. Randolph currently serves on the Louisiana Military Advisory Council, and the Old State Capitol Advisory Board. She previously served as board chair of Friends of Louisiana Public Broadcasting, The Shepherd Center, and City Park Players. In 2012, she was named a Hero of Fort Polk by the Commanding General and the Civic Leader of the year by the local Knights of Columbus. Randolph is a member of the downtown Alexandria Rotary Club. She is married to former Alexandria Mayor, Ned Randolph.

  • Deron Thaxton

    Deron has over 17 years of experience in Higher Education management and administration with 15 of those years within the state of Louisiana.  He begin his career at his alma mater, Northwestern State University, in 1998 as a Systems Administrator and quickly moved in to the Director of Information Systems role.  He later served as Director of Technical Services at Truman State University located in Kirksville, Missouri.  Deron joined LSU of Alexandria in March of 2003 as Director of Computing Services and has been involved in all areas of University Administration since that time.  Throughout his career in higher education, he has traveled to various universities in the United States and Canada to provide expertise and guidance in the areas of Student Records and Registration, Financial Aid, Accounting Services, IT Resources and Data Management.  Deron currently serves LSUA as both the Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administration as well as the Chief Information Officer.  Deron is married to his wife of 18 years, Shere’ Matthews Thaxton.  They have one son, Aiden.  Deron and his family reside in Pineville, Louisiana.

  • Everardo (Eddie) Ponce

    Eddie is the owner of Mi Tierra Restaurante Mexicano in Forest Hill LA. He is a 2013 LSUA graduate majoring in Business Administration. He is a past member of the Rotary Club in Lecompte and serves as the Alumni Advisor to Sigma Nu Fraternity at Northwestern State University. Eddie enjoys cooking and fishing in his spare time. He and his wife Angele live in Glenmora, LA.

  • Glenda Stock

    Glenda is a native Texan and a very active entrepreneur and community philanthropist. Glenda has held numerous leadership roles including Cabrini Foundation Board, Central Louisiana Community Foundation President, Chairperson Cenla American Red Cross, Vice President of the Economic Development Committee for the Chamber of Commerce and Board Member of First Federal Bank. Her awards were extensive including a Louisiana Heroine Award, Service Above Self Award, Decades of Women Award and Small Business Award. Her commitment to education in our community is noteworthy, as she continues to be involved in many civic and charitable organizations.

  • Jason Cobb

    Jason has over twenty years of experience in healthcare with fifteen of those years in the state of Louisiana. In 2013, Jason joined Rapides Regional Medical Center and Rapides Healthcare System as Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Prior to joining RRMC, Jason was CEO of Lakeview Regional Medical Center in Covington, La.  He currently serves on the Greater Alexandria Economic Development Authority Board of Directors and the Central Louisiana Economic Development Authority Board of Directors.  He is also involved with the Louisiana Hospital Association, American Heart Association and the American Cancer Society.  Jason holds a Masters of Health Administration from Washington University School of Medicine and a Masters of Business Administration from Texas A & M University.  In addition, Jason is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives and has been a member since 1994.

  • Kyle Downs Drerup

    Mrs. Kyle Down Derup

    Kyle is a graduate on LSU Baton Rouge with a Bachelor’s Degree of Interior Design.  Kyle established The Downs Design Group, Inc. as well as etc…by downs, inc. which she owned for twenty years.  She is an allied member of the American Society of Interior Designers and is a past agent with the Board of Realtors.  She is a past member of the Junior League of Alexandria and previously served as President of both The Professional Women’s Network and the City Park Players.  Kyle currently serves on the Board of Managers of the Alexandria Museum of Art.  She served as fundraising Chair for the 2014-15 Start A Heart Cenla and presently serves on Go Red For Women – Circle of Red Women.  In her spare time, she enjoys travel, cooking, and entertaining.  She is married to M. Lawrence Drerup, M.D.

  • Lawrence S. Searcy, Jr., Treasurer

    Lawrence is General Counsel and Operations Manager for Walker Oldsmobile Company, Inc. d/b/a Walker Automotive in Alexandria, Louisiana.  Mr.Searcy is a 1991 graduate of Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas and a 1998 graduate of South Texas College of Law in Houston, Texas.  Mr. Searcy is a member of the Louisiana and Texas Bar Associations.  He sits on various community boards and is actively involved in charitable endeavors in central Louisiana.

  • Lloyd Vaughn

    Lloyd is the CEO of Vaughn Automotive.  He currently is involved in the Chamber activities and with Alexandria Country Day School.  Lloyd received his MBA from Wayne State University in Detroit , MI.  His hobbies are running and he is married to Beth and they have three children.

  • Martin Johnson

    Martin has held leadership positions in several church and community development organizations, including the Central Louisiana Chamber of Commerce, England Authority, Central Louisiana Foundation, Louisiana Commerce and Industry Board and the Central Louisiana Business League. He is married to Karen Bowie Johnson and they have two daughters.

  • Mary B. McCampbell (Foundation Staff)

    Mary B. came to LSUA in 2001 and has worked in the Foundation Office since 2004.  She attended Loretto Heights College in Denver, CO and graduated from LSU with a B.A. in Psychology.  She previously worked as the Planner for the Rapides Parish Office of Economic and Workforce Development.  Mary B. currently serves on the Board of the Alexandria Mardi Gras Association and is active in other Mardi Gras events.  She is a member of Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority and enjoys reading, fishing, traveling, and playing pokeno.  She and her husband Bill have three children, two grandchildren and three dogs.

  • Melinda F. Anderson, Executive Director


    Melinda is a graduate of Mary Baldwin College in Staunton, Virginia with a BA in Business Administration.  Melinda is a member of and has served on the Board of the Louisiana Trust for Historic Preservation. She has served on the Louisiana Travel Promotion Association statewide Board of Directors and the Louisiana Bed & Breakfast Association Board of Directors.  She is now active in the Alexandria Rotary and the Historic Association of Central Louisiana.  She is married to Andy Anderson and they have one son, Brooks.

  • Michael Crowell

    Michael, an executive with Crowell Lumber Industries, is a graduate of Tulane University and is involved with United Way of Central Louisiana, Southern Forest Heritage Museum and the Alexandria Rotary Club. He is married to Noelle Crowell.

  • Mike Jenkins

    Michael, owner of Jenkins Financial Services,  is a 1967 graduate of Bayou Chicot High School; attended LSUA and is a 1970 graduate of LSU Baton Rouge.  He is an active member in Alexandria Rotary and in the redevelopment of downtown Alexandria.  Mr. Jenkins is married to Jennifer Robert Jenkins and they have three grown children: Christi, Mike and Rebecca. They are the proud grandparents of five grandchildren.

  • Nell Shehee

    Nell is funeral director and vice president at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Shreveport and Wellness Program director for Kilpatrick Life Insurance. Her community leadership activities include Alexandria Museum of Art, Mothers Against Drugs, Louisiana Endowment for Humanities and Louisiana Funeral Directors Association. She is married to Graham Kramer.

  • Robert Cavanaugh

    Dr. Cavanaugh worked at Louisiana State University at Alexandria for 38 years. During this time he served as a faculty member, Director of Planning and Development, Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, and Chancellor.  He served as Chancellor for 13 years during a time of transition as LSUA moved from a two year institution to a baccalaureate degree granting institution.  He retired in August of 2007.  Robert and his wife, Georgia, currently live in Arkansas.

  • Robert J. Freedman, Jr. MD

    Robert is a graduate of Tulane University School of Medicine, with post graduate training in Internal Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Flight Surgeon training at the USAF School of Aerospace Medicine, and Cardiology at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston.  He is the Founder and Managing Partner of Freedman Memorial Cardiology in Alexandria, and Founder and CEO of Life Recovery Systems. He is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and has served on the Board of Governors for the College.  Since 2000, he has been named to the list of Best Doctors in America and is the 2009 recipient of the Enrique Lopez Innovative and Humanitarian Cardiovascular Award.  He is married to Nydia Freedman.

  • Shere' Thaxton (Foundation Staff)

    Shere Thaxton

    Shere' began her career at Louisiana State University at Alexandria in the spring of 2006 as a Program Specialist within the Continuing Education department. During her 9 years in that role, Shere’ has overseen numerous professional development and outreach programs within central Louisiana. She was responsible for organizing and implementing the Leadership Central Louisiana program as well as the very successful CAPS program for area students. In 2015, Shere’ moved from Continuing Education to the LSUA Foundation working in the area of Alumni Relations. Shere’ is a 1999 graduate of LSUA. She and her husband Deron have one son, Aiden, who attends Alexandria Country Day School.

  • Spencer Martin, President-Elect

    Spencer is the Business Process Manager at Roy O Martin Lumber.  He is a graduate of Baylor University with MBA from LSU. Mr. Martin serves on the CHRISTUS Cabrini Foundation and Alexandria Country Day School Board.   He is a former member of Habitat for Humanity and American Red Cross. He is married to Leigh Martin.

  • Stephen Wright

    Stephen, a graduate of Texas Women’s University with a Masters in Healthcare Administration, was named President/CEO of CHRISTUS Health Louisiana in 2010.  For more than thirty years, Stephen Wright has held a variety of leadership roles with the Sisters of Charity Health Care System (SCH) and CHRISTUS Health.  At SCH, he served as director of managed care for the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word of Houston and then as chief operating officer for St. Michael Health Care Center in Texarkana, Texas.  Following the formation of CHRISTUS Health, Wright began his tenure as CEO of CHRISTUS St. Frances Cabrini Hospital in 1999. Shortly thereafter, he was asked to assume additional responsibilities as president and CEO for CHRISTUS Health Central Louisiana, which includes CHRISTUS Coushatta Health Care Center, Natchitoches Regional Medical Center and CHRISTUS St. Joseph’s Home in Monroe, LA.  In February 2009 Wright assumed leadership of CHRISTUS Health Northern Louisiana, resulting in enhanced coordination of services among the various entities in Central and Northern Louisiana and both regions’ continued growth. He is actively involved with the Alexandria Business Foundation, the Louisiana Hospital Association, the American Heart Association, and other local and statewide organizations. Stephen has also served as president of the LSUA Foundation. He and his wife, Mona, have three children.
