A Point of Pride All of our faculty and adjuncts of the department are practitioners. This means each member has had a career, or is currently serving, in the field of criminal justice.
Dr. Jennifer Innerarity, Associate Professor of Criminal Justice, became a CJUS faculty member at LSUA in the Fall of 2011. Her research interests range from law enforcement to forensic science to law and procedure. She has been P.O.S.T. certified in Louisiana since 1998 and still works part-time as a patrol officer with a local law enforcement agency. Dr. Inneraritycompleted her Ph.D. in Administration of Justice at USM in 2014. She is a native of Cottonport, La. in Avoyelles Parish.
Dr. John Marks joined the Department of Criminal Justice in 2019. He completed a bachelor of science in political science and a master's degree in public administration from Georgia College and State University, and then his PhD from Sam Houston State University. His interests include ethical leadership, the administration and management of police organizations, and evidence-based police crime reduction strategies. His current research focuses on conservation law enforcement.
University of Louisiana at Monroe is the alma mater of Beth Whittington. She had a 20-year law enforcement career prior to coming to LSUA in 1994 and continues to teach at several police academies.
Michael Wright, Senior Instructor, is a graduate of Florida State University. He came to LSUA in 2002 after retiring from a long career with the Federal Bureau of Prisons. He is the faculty advisor for the Criminal Justice Association, LSUA's student criminal justice club.
