Global warming, wildfires, hurricanes, and other natural and man-made disasters make the need for emergency managers greater than ever before. Disaster Science and Emergency Management is a rapidly-developing academic discipline that is expected to continue to grow well into the future. Students pursuing this concentration within the Bachelor of General Studies develop skills in disaster planning, interpersonal communication, and leadership. They will be prepared to help businesses, governments, and nonprofit organizations prepare for, and respond to and recover from floods, tornadoes, hazardous material spills, terrorist attacks, and epidemics.
