The LSUA University Police Department (UPD) is committed to providing a safe and secure environment where students, faculty, staff, and visitors can thrive. UPD supports and enhances the LSUA experience by ensuring that all individuals who study, work, and visit our campus can do so in a safe, worry-free environment. The University Police Department is dedicated to preserving peace, preventing crime, and responding to emergencies effectively, fostering a community where safety and success go hand in hand.
Our officers understand the unique dynamics of a campus community and serve with a strong focus on community-oriented policing. Each officer is a highly trained, certified police professional commissioned by the State of Louisiana, ensuring that LSUA remains a safe place to work, learn, and live.

LSUA University Police is a full-service public safety agency. Our officers meet and exceed the rigorous standards set by the Louisiana Police Officers Standards and Training Council (P.O.S.T.) and are commissioned by the Louisiana Department of Public Safety under Louisiana Revised Statutes, Section 17:1805. Officers have full police and arrest authority and patrol the campus 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. UPD works closely with the Rapides Parish 911 Communications Center, ensuring seamless coordination with area law enforcement, fire departments, and emergency medical services.
