This 5-day summer camp will give your child the opportunity to continue developing their leadership skills and interact with local community leaders. The camp will take place on the LSUA campus June 13-17th 2022.
By the end of this camp experience students will:
Gain a greater sense of self awareness and identify their leadership style
Build teamwork skills Recognize the skills necessary to become an effective leader
Practice communication skills
Learn about local leaders and industries
Develop and present business plan
Students will be on campus from 9am to 4pm each day. Students will be divided into work groups led by an LSUA student facilitator. Each day students will be hearing from local business leaders on topics such as “What does it mean to be a leader?” and “How to become a leader.”
Students will be working on specific skill development in small groups led by local leaders and LSUA faculty. Small group topics will include: Women in Leadership, Leading where you are, Underrepresented Leaders, Entrepreneurship, Civic Engagement, and Leadership through the Arts.
Throughout the week each group of students will be writing their own business proposal and commercial. These proposals will be presented to a group of local leaders on Friday.
Monday -Thursday Daily Schedule:
9:00 - 10:00 AM: Arrive and join in team building exercises/competitions.
10:00 - 10:45 AM: Big session time (guest speaker and specific college examples of leaders from their field)
Break
11:00 - 11:30 AM: Small session time
11:30 AM - 12:00 PM: Small session time
12:00 PM - 12:45 PM: Lunch
12:45 PM - 2:00 PM: Skill Building and team project time
2:00 PM - 3:30 PM: Fun campus activity
3:30 PM - 4:00 PM: Reflection and wrap-up
Friday Schedule
9:00 - 9:30 AM: Final group time to prepare for presentation
