The Children's Academic Program for Summer (CAPS) was a long-standing summer camp offered through LSUA for 30 years, from 1983-2013. The Continuing Education Department is reviving the program to continue offering children in our community an opportunity to experience the LSUA campus in a fun and educational way, now and for generations to come! For our first-year revival, we will be hosting a Mini CAPS, serving children entering 1st and 2nd grade in fall 2019.

What is CAPS?

CAPS is a week-long camp offering fun, challenging, and motivational learning opportunities. Children will have hands-on interactive experiences in a variety of subjects such as science, art, fitness, music, and much more.

CAPS Volunteer Opportunities

Do you want to do something that really matters this summer?

CAPS is looking for volunteers to help with the day-to-day activities of the camp. Volunteers will help staff with drop-off/pick-up, assist the children during session activities and with class transitions, as well as a variety of other duties. We depend on volunteers to ensure that campers have the best week of their lives.

To apply as a CAPS volunteer, please download and complete the Volunteer Application Packet and email to or mail to LSUA Continuing Education, 807 Jackson Street, Alexandria, LA 71301. Please be sure to mark the days you are available to work!
