Education Program Accountability

 

Accreditation

The Louisiana State University at Alexandria Department of Education first established a degree program in elementary education in 2004 and became nationally accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) for the first time in 2010. Since then, the LSUA School of Education has remained nationally accredited at the initial level by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP). National recognition was earned by demonstrating excellence in the areas of content and pedagogy, clinical experiences, selectivity, program impact, and capacity for continuous improvement. The most recent accreditation through CAEP was approved in October 2018 and continues through June 2024.

All programs are also state-approved in Louisiana. The LSUA School of Education works closely with the Louisiana Department of Education to assure compliance with state requirements for educator professional licensure.
