Louisiana National Guard Honored at Awards Dinner

The Louisiana National Guard was honored during this year’s Athletics Awards Dinner for their contributions and hard work in completing the preliminary dirt work for LSU Alexandria’s future baseball/softball complex. The Louisiana National Guard, under the leadership of Major General Bennett Landreneau, moved approximately 100,000 cubic yards of dirt from what is now known as Guard Lake, to raise the ground elevation to the level required before construction may begin. More than 40 soldiers participated in this groundwork, which was a MOS-related training operation for the National Guard. SGM Vicellio and Lt. Col. Crooks represented the National Guard at the awards dinner. On behalf of the National Guard, they accepted t-shirts for all guard members involved with the project and an engraved baseball bat in honor of their efforts.

Chancellor’s Council Makes Contribution to Athletics

The LSU Alexandria Chancellor’s Council made a contribution of $1,500 to the athletic department. Through individual contributions made to the council, university programs such as athletics, the library, museum, and AFA (Alumni and Friends) received checks of support. The athletic department would like to thank everyone that contributed to this council and, in effect, to our athletic program.
