LSUA Athletics earns its first ever NAIA Champions of Character 5-Star Gold Rating.

For the first time in program history, LSUA Athletics received the NAIA Champions of Character 5-Star Gold Rating for the 2017-18 academic year.

Universities are scored by the NAIA in a variety of areas including adherence to NAIA regulations, overall sportsmanship/player conduct, and representation of the five core values that Champions of Character emphasize – integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship, and servant leadership. LSUA earned 95 out of a possible 100 points.

The five-star gold rating is the highest rating possible.

LSUA student-athletes participated in a number of events during the 2017-18 academic year, including a blood drive, campus beautification projects, free children’s clinics, and participation in the American Heart Association’s Heart Walk.

This is the second year in a row for LSUA to be recognized by the NAIA. LSUA Athletics received the silver rating in the previous year.

LSUA and Xavier University are the only two universities in Louisiana to receive a gold rating this year. Additionally, LSUA and Texas A&M-Texarkana are the only two Red River Athletic Conference schools to receive the honor for 2017-18.
