LSUA Student Publishes Case Study

Student publishes in national magazine.

Soon to be Clinical Laboratory Science graduate, Kyleigh Ellis, can now add the title of author to her resume.

Ellis, who was named as a student appointee to the American Society of Clinical Laboratory Science Region VII organization this spring, recently had a case study on job interview tips published in the ASCLS newsletter. The study goes over tips such as what to wear, what questions to ask, and what questions are likely to be asked of the interviewee. Ellis says she got the idea for the case study after being surprised at how few students understood what is expected of them during the job interview process.

Ellis put her own tips to good use recently by landing a job at Cabrini Hospital as a generalist in the lab. She will rotate among stations such as blood bank, hematology, chemistry, and more. However, she isn’t done with her schooling just yet. Despite obtaining an associate degree in Clinical Laboratory Science in August from LSUA, she will continue in the online program to earn her bachelor’s degree.

Before beginning her job, Ellis will travel to the ASCLS annual meeting in Chicago. There, she will get to meet with and listen to other clinical lab specialists from throughout the country while also participating in student forums. Once back in Alexandria, she is set to begin her new job in early August.
