by Sarah Black | Apr 23, 2018
An LSUA student earned a prominent position within a national Clinical Laboratory Science organization.

LSUA Clinical Laboratory Science student Kyleigh Ellis is one of the newest appointees to the American Society of Clinical Laboratory Science Region VII organization as a Student Forum Representative.

Ellis received the appointment in Fall 2017 after being nominated by Sona Kumar, the LSUA Clinical Laboratory Science program coordinator.

Ellis decided to pursue Clinical Laboratory Science as a career due to her love of looking in a microscope.  At LSUA, she is president of Gamma Lambda Tau, a CLT student organization, as well as ASCLS.

As a member of the Region VII Student Forum, she will serve as the voice of the ASCLS student members in Region VII to the ASCLS Student Forum, Region VII Director, and the Region VII President’s Council. The function is to disseminate information to and from the ASCLS Student Forum and other stakeholders to assure that strategic actions and goals are set and achieved in order to meet the needs of ASCLS student members.

Ellis will earn her associate’s degree this summer and would like to continue her education with a bachelor’s degree before earning a master’s and a doctorate in hospital management and then seeing where her path leads.
