LSUA has a tremendous economic impact on the community.

A recent study by the Economics & Policy Research Group at the E.J. Ourso College of Business at LSU has shown that the flagship university system generates an impressive economic impact throughout Louisiana.

According to the study, LSUA employs 235 local residents with direct employment while producing an additional 404 indirect jobs related to the university. This results in $21.1 million in total earnings within the region. Additionally, the study found that LSUA contributes an impressive $84.4 million in total economic impact within central Louisiana.

In addition to being a leading contributor to the local workforce, LSUA also plays a vital role in educating future community leaders. In all, the study found that the 2016 LSUA graduates will enjoy a combined $289 million in lifetime earnings.

“LSUA not only provides a pipeline of highly qualified and educated graduates for central Louisiana, the university is also responsible for driving a large portion of the region’s economy both in terms of direct employment and as new graduates enter the workforce,” says LSUA Chancellor Dr. Guiyou Huang.

During the 2017 fiscal year, the study found the LSU system generates a total of $5.1 billion in economic impact across Louisiana. The impact equates to a return of $13.25 for every dollar of state investment.
