Local businesses and organizations gathered with the Department of Business to hear strategic plan.

The LSUA Department of Business Administration held its Spring Business Advisory Council meeting Monday, Feb. 26. Twenty area business representatives were present to hear the Department's plans and progress. Feedback from the Council is incorporated into the department’s strategic planning process and curriculum development. This group meets once a semester to assure that the program is current and relevant with the needs of the business community.

The Spring 2018 Council meeting focused on the departmental progress toward accreditation by the Accreditation Council for Business School Programs (ACBSP). Included in the discussion was the department's goals of growth, program enhancement, student development, and local engagement.

A survey of those attending the Spring meeting provided additional feedback. Advisory member feedback was quite favorable with comments such as the "comparative results [with other universities] were impressive" and the department's process to "analyze the data, and modify the curriculum... [is] a great plan." Other members encouraged the department to continue focusing on soft skills and real-world applications. And another council member suggested bringing more business leaders to campus, which is already in the works.

Some of the local businesses and community organizations represented in the group are: Roy O’Martin, Central Louisiana Economic Development Alliance, CLECO, Red River Bank, Rapides Foundation, Diamond B Construction, Gilchrist Construction, Central Louisiana Regional Chamber of Commerce, Marksville Chamber of Commerce, Christus Health, United Way of Louisiana, Regions Bank, DETEL, CommCare, Daenen Henderson & Co., Kinetix Technologies, EnhanceSoft, Lloyd Advertising, Edward Jones, MobiLoans LLC, and others.
