LSUA Nationally Ranked by U.S. News and World Report

LSUA has been nationally ranked by U.S. News and World Report.

U.S. News and World Report recently ranked LSU of Alexandria as the tenth best liberal arts college in the country when it comes to students enrolling in a school where they have been accepted.

According to the data, LSUA had 609 students accepted and a fall 2012 enrollment of 371, resulting in a yield of 60.9%.

Only 12 of the 223 liberal arts colleges that submitted yield rate data to U.S. News had a yield higher than 50 percent.  The lowest yield was 6.6%.

“Because of the increase in admissions standards at all of Louisiana’s four-year colleges, admission into selective schools like LSU of Alexandria is much more competitive today.  We at LSUA are working hard to provide more scholarships and keep our tuition lower than other universities,” says Heather Poole, LSUA vice chancellor for enrollment services. “Applying to college can be a daunting task for some; our goal is to establish relationships with students and their families early on to help them navigate the college admissions process.  In the end, we know students have choices and are proud to see more and more students making LSUA their final college choice.”

Yield rates can be affected by a school’s early decision process, as some of those programs bind students to attending if accepted.

LSUA Interim Chancellor Paul Coreil says that these numbers show that students and their parents are finding that LSUA is an institution where they can get a first-rate education and when they apply, they are serious about enrolling.

“We are proud of the fact that when student express interest in LSUA, a high percentage end up in the classroom.  We know that making a decision about where to attend school is a difficult one, but we believe that more people are seeing the quality education they can get right here at home,” said Coreil.

The survey was taken in the spring of 2013.
