LSUA has been accepted into the Red River Athletic Conference.
Louisiana State University is proud to announce that it is the newest member of the Red River Athletic Conference.
LSUA was recently notified of the vote with membership into the RRAC effective July 1, 2014.
“It truly is a great day for LSU-Alexandria and our athletic program. Joining the Red River Athletic Conference is another step in the right direction for our programs,” says LSUA Athletic Director Charlie Zeilman. “This move gives us the opportunity to compete regionally which will decrease travel expenses, allow us to be a part of yearly rivalries, and allows our student athletes to compete for conference championships. We would like to thank the Red River Athletic Conference for accepting us into the conference and look forward to this important move.”
The RRAC is currently made up of twelve members including: Bacone College (Okla.), Huston-Tilloston University (Texas), Jarvis Christian College (Texas), Langston University (Okla.), LSU-Shreveport, Our Lady of the Lake University (Texas), Paul Quinn College (Texas), Texas College, University of St. Thomas (Texas), University of Texas-Brownsville, University of the Southwest (New Mexico) and Wiley College (Texas).
Members of the RRAC participate in cross country, soccer, volleyball, basketball, baseball, golf, outdoor track and field, and softball.
“Joining the Red River Athletic Conference is fantastic news for LSUA. Our baseball and softball teams are already very successful and joining the RRAC will allow us to build on this success well into the future,” says LSUA Interim Chancellor Paul Coreil.
In addition to baseball and softball, LSUA is adding men’s and women’s soccer, men’s and women’s basketball and women’s tennis beginning in Fall 2014.
