LSUA has hired Michael Poropat to be the new men's and women's soccer coach.

LSUA is pleased to announce the hiring of the new men’s and women’s soccer coach.  Michael Poropat will be joining the Generals as he takes over this new program with a start date of November 1, 2013.

Poropat has also been involved in the Olympic Development Program since 2010 by helping identify and evaluate potential ODP players as well as preparing and facilitating training sessions.  He also served as an assistant soccer coach for the St. Louis Lions of the United Soccer League from 2008-2012.

“I’d like to be the first to congratulate Louisiana State University – Alexandria in hiring Coach Poropat.  Coach Poropat has been an integral part of the success of the men’s and women’s soccer programs at Fontbonne University for the last nine years.  In addition to his wealth of soccer knowledge, Mike has tremendous passion for developing well-rounded student-athletes.  His commitment, dedication and work ethic will prove to be an asset to LSU-Alexandria.  We wish him nothing but the best,” says Fontbonne University Head Men’s and Women’s Soccer Coach Brian Hoener.

Poropat began his playing career in St. Louis at Lindenwood University.  After stops in St. Louis and Biloxi, Mississippi, he also played overseas for the Husie IF and IFK Malmo in Malmo, Sweden and Tadcaster Albion in Leeds, England.

He has a United State Soccer Federation National “A” coaching license.
