Children's Center Awarded 3 Star Rating
LSUA’s Children’s Center has been awarded its third star in Louisiana’s Quality Start Child Care Rating System. The 3-5 star rating in this system indicates that our center provides quality child care based on staff qualifications and the Environment Rating Scales.
Quality Start is a voluntary program for licensed child care centers, designed to recognize, support and increase the quality of child care throughout Louisiana. Participating centers can earn up to five stars.
The application process involved a Staff Qualifications Audit conducted by LA Pathways. The results of this audit are based on education, training, documentation and employment verification of each staff member. LSUA’s Children’s Center conducted a Center Self Assessment which included a review of Staff Qualifications for the Director and all teaching staff as well as a review of Administration Practices, Family and Community Involvement, and Program components. Following the Center Self Assessment, the Center Improvement Plan was completed.
Out of approximately 1,790 licensed child care facilities in Louisiana, 40 have the 3-Star Rating. The attainment of this 3-Star Rating allows parents and staff members to claim a 100% tax credit on their state tax return for 2011.
