Program Type:

The Bachelor of Science in Chemistry provides students with a comprehensive foundation in the discipline of chemistry. The foundation includes courses in general, analytical, organic, physical, and advanced inorganic chemistry, as well as courses in instrumental analysis and biochemistry. Students also select one of four concentrations, each of which prepares them for a particular career path. The concentrations are Pre-Professional, Management, Secondary Education, and Chemistry. The degree is suitable for students who intend to seek admission to pharmacy school, medical school, dental school, or a graduate program in chemistry.  It is also excellent preparation for a career in the chemicals industry, a government agency, or on a high school science faculty.

The student learning outcomes for the Bachelor of Science in Chemistry are presented below:

  1. Graduates will have a solid understanding of foundational chemical principles.
  2. Graduates will be able to apply chemical principles in various situations.
Admission Requirements

Students must meet all requirements for admission to the university on our Applying for Admissions site. The Bachelor of Science in Chemistry has no separate or special admission requirements. 

Degree Requirements
  1. Students must complete all of the requirements pertaining to baccalaureate degrees as specified on our Academic Requirements site.
  2. Students must complete at least 30 hours at the 3000 level or above.
