Center for Opportunity Research & Experiential Learning
The mission of CORE is to establish services and programs which support students as they pursue activities of inquiry, creativity, scholarship, and research. CORE services and programs promote holistic student development across all disciplines by incorporating inclusive mentorship and engaging instruction.
This one-day event provides fall graduates the opportunity to showcase their scholarly work as they prepare for the next phase of their academic or professional careers.
Scholar Day is a one-day event showcasing the scholarly achievements of LSUA juniors, seniors, and faculty. This multidisciplinary celebration highlights the diverse scholarship and creative activities happening at LSUA.
The Oak Leaf is a multidisciplinary journal that showcases LSUA's teaching and research achievements. It features exceptional undergraduate research, reviews, and theoretical articles across various fields.
To enhance the academic experience and foster a vibrant university community, CORE has added four High Impact Practice Seminars to its catalog. These seminars are designed to be enjoyable and engaging, offering students valuable opportunities for experiential learning.
WHAT IS CORE?
CORE serves as an undergraduate research hub at LSUA for resources and activities designed to encourage and support student and faculty research. CORE nurtures and supports research initiatives by engaging students with high-impact programs and promoting active research across the community.

CORE Initiatives
Student Travels Grants
Students invited to present at conferences can apply for a travel grant to cover expenses related to presentation.
CORE Research Assistants
Each semester, two students will be selected to assist with the planning and implementation of events and data collection/analysis.
Scholar Day
This one-day event is dedicated to highlighting the scholarly achievements of LSUA junior and senior students and is open to the public. Junior and senior students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to participate as presenters, judges, or attendees.
The Oak Leaf
This undergraduate journal of teaching and research is an open-access, peer-reviewed journal acknowledging the achievements of LSUA students, faculty, and scholars from the wider community in areas of teaching and research.
High-Impact Practice Seminars
HIPS offers one-credit academic seminars that allow students to engage in various experiential learning activities.
Civic Engagement
Selected students will study basic civic concepts, social responsibilities, and local non-profit agencies to conduct their own fundraisers and volunteer efforts.
