Command Your Career
Do you want to make the most out of your college experience, but also find a great job when you graduate? Well, that starts here with Command Your Career, a career readiness program that is all about helping you gain all the skills, relationships, and experience necessary for success in your future career.
This program provides you with key tasks to complete at different stages of your college journey to help you become career ready. You will complete these tasks to earn stars: Explore, Develop, Experience, and Arrive!
Earn all four stars and you will become a special Four-Star Graduate, which says to your future employers that you “commanded” your career during your time at LSUA.
LSUA is committed to ensuring that our graduates are career-ready and confident, providing the relationships, support, and experiences that are critical for their long-term success.
Durable Skills
The National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) has determined that there are eight key “durable skills” that are necessary for success in every career field. LSUA has embedded career-readiness projects in their curriculum that focuses on four of these eight skills:
Your Command Your Career Journey
Throughout your LSUA experience, we will provide you with key tasks to complete to help you transition from the classroom into a purposeful career. You will earn stars for completing these tasks, and each star is intended to be completed in one academic year.

Be curious! Learn more about who you are and what you want to do with your future career by completing career/self-inventories, engaging with on-campus events and organizations, and learning about career networking.

Be courageous! Develop your durable skills, learn more about how to communicate effectively with professionals, and gain valuable leadership skills. Career networking might sound scary, but with a little bit of practice, we’ll help you have the courage to succeed.

Be confident! You’ve learned all of valuable knowledge in the classroom. Now it’s time to put your skills into practice and apply them to the real world through internships, research or capstone projects, and more.

Be competent. By your senior year, you’ve acquired the skills, knowledge, experience, and connections you need to be successful in the workforce. We’ll help you show future employers what you’ve learned and prepare your job search materials.
