Position Details

Vice Chancellor for Finance & Administrative Services

The Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administrative Services serves as the chief financial officer for Louisiana State University of Alexandria (LSUA). The Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administrative Services has responsibility for the leadership and management of the university’s administrative and finance operations, is a member of the executive management team, and reports directly to the Chancellor.

The Vice Chancellor is responsible for providing executive level direction and management oversight for financial planning, budgeting and budget analysis, accounting and business operations, finance controls and reporting, investment oversight, campus maintenance and development, risk management and insurance, space planning and construction, facilities and grounds operations, purchasing and contracts, mail services, and auxiliary enterprises. The general responsibilities of this position include planning, implementation, and assessment of financial and administrative strategies, policies and procedures which enhance LSUA's core mission.

The Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administrative Services reports directly to the LSUA Chancellor. As such, this position serves as chief advisor to the Chancellor on fiscal and administrative matters. The incumbent will maintain effective communications with key internal constituencies including administrators on the Chancellor's staff and administrators, faculty, staff and students on the LSUA campus.

The incumbent will direct the Division of Finance and Administrative Services on the LSUA campus. Areas reporting to the Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administrative Services include Budget, Accounting, Facilities, including capital outlay, Human Resources, Information and Educational Technology Services, Procurement, Auxiliary Services, Occupational Health and Safety, University CPA, and the University Police.

This position requires close interaction and coordination with members of the Provost's leadership team, the Director of Student Financial Aid, the Registrar, Student Support, University Relations, and Athletics, and is expected to develop and enhance valuable partnerships with external constituents.

This position also serves on campus committees, as well as serving as the financial liaison to the LSUA Foundation, including The Oaks student housing, The Alexandria Museum of Art, and The Generals Athletic Association.

The position initiates and maintains cooperative relationships with the LSU System, other colleges and universities, professional organizations, state and federal agencies, state and federal legislative delegations, civic organizations, and relevant groups.

The job responsibilities require the Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administrative Services to be available during irregular work hours and to perform extended work days to maintain a managerial presence on campus to the greatest extent practicable. This position is responsible for overseeing university events, operations, and employees during weekends and evenings, and for being immediately available when mechanical, security, flooding, or other emergency situations occur on campus.

Minimum Education Requirement: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a relevant master’s degree. Ph. D. and/or C.P.A. preferred.

Minimum Work Experience: Ten years of relevant professional and/or administrative experience in college/university financial administration at a senior level.

Compensation: Will be provided according to the operating policies and procedures of the University and consistent with the position description and the background and preparation of the individual who is offered the position.

LSUA employs four different types of personnel on campus.

  • Faculty Members - Members of the academic staff holding rank of instructor or above and equivalent ranks. Faculty may be 9 month or 12 month employees and they may teach and/or do research.
  • Professional Employees - Administrative officers and professional staff that are generally exempt from the provisions of the State Civil Service System. This category is formerly referred to as Unclassified Employees.
  • Classified Employees - Employees in positions covered by the provisions of Louisiana State Civil Service System.
  • Other Academic Employees - Part-time members of the academic staff or full-time members of instructional or research staff below the rank of Instructor. Examples are part-time instructors, teaching or research associates, library associates, lecturers, etc.
