LSUA employs four different types of personnel on campus.
- Faculty Members - Members of the academic staff holding rank of instructor or above and equivalent ranks. Faculty may be 9 month or 12 month employees and they may teach and/or do research.
- Professional Employees - Administrative officers and professional staff that are generally exempt from the provisions of the State Civil Service System. This category is formerly referred to as Unclassified Employees.
- Classified Employees - Employees in positions covered by the provisions of Louisiana State Civil Service System.
- Other Academic Employees - Part-time members of the academic staff or full-time members of instructional or research staff below the rank of Instructor. Examples are part-time instructors, teaching or research associates, library associates, lecturers, etc.
Assistant Professor of ChemistryAssistant Professor of Chemistry
The Department of Mathematics and Physical Sciences at Louisiana State University at Alexandria (LSUA) invites applications for a tenure track position as Assistant Professor of Chemistry. LSUA is in the Louisiana State University System and is noted for its emphasis on excellent undergraduate teaching. The department currently offers the Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and is adding the Bachelor of General Studies with a Concentration in Chemistry. The successful candidate will have the Ph.D. in Chemistry and will be adept at teaching both introductory classes as well as upper level classes for the concentration. The search committee is especially interested in candidates who have the ability to teach physical chemistry. Applications should include a detailed cover letter, vita, evidence of teaching effectiveness, unofficial transcripts, and contact information for three references. The desired start date is fall 2013, but a later date is possible for the ideal candidate. Applications will be received until the position is filled.
