LSUA employs four different types of personnel on campus.
- Faculty Members - Members of the academic staff holding rank of instructor or above and equivalent ranks. Faculty may be 9 month or 12 month employees and they may teach and/or do research.
- Professional Employees - Administrative officers and professional staff that are generally exempt from the provisions of the State Civil Service System. This category is formerly referred to as Unclassified Employees.
- Classified Employees - Employees in positions covered by the provisions of Louisiana State Civil Service System.
- Other Academic Employees - Part-time members of the academic staff or full-time members of instructional or research staff below the rank of Instructor. Examples are part-time instructors, teaching or research associates, library associates, lecturers, etc.

Position Details
Communications & Event Coordinator at The Alexandria Museum of Art
This Position is a fulltime unclassified position with benefits. The hours are flexible in that they include some nights and weekends. The successful candidate will hold a degree in Marketing, PR, Communications or Graphic Design, have proven professional experience, the ability to work on multiple projects and be a team player.
This position works with the director and staff to build brand awareness and promote the mission of the museum to the public in order to build audience, membership, and program participation. Relationship building with the media and other organizations is required to effectively accomplish Museum goals.
This position is charged with PR & Marketing responsibilities in regard to the Museum in general as well as promotion and management of facility rentals and community programming. This includes but is not limited to developing a comprehensive communications plan, maintaining the website and other online media, design of printed materials and digital communications, press releases, advertisements, seeking media coverage, submitting events to community calendars, assuring documentation of programs, technology management for exhibitions, classroom & facility rental needs, coordination and management of facility rentals and market days. Writing and design skills are necessary as well as good interpersonal skills. Proficiency in InDesign, PhotoShop, Microsoft Office programs necessary.
The salary is $30,000/year + benefits.
