LSUA employs four different types of personnel on campus.
- Faculty Members - Members of the academic staff holding rank of instructor or above and equivalent ranks. Faculty may be 9 month or 12 month employees and they may teach and/or do research.
- Professional Employees - Administrative officers and professional staff that are generally exempt from the provisions of the State Civil Service System. This category is formerly referred to as Unclassified Employees.
- Classified Employees - Employees in positions covered by the provisions of Louisiana State Civil Service System.
- Other Academic Employees - Part-time members of the academic staff or full-time members of instructional or research staff below the rank of Instructor. Examples are part-time instructors, teaching or research associates, library associates, lecturers, etc.

Position Details
Assistant Professor of Biology (Vertebrate Biologist)
Louisiana State University at Alexandria is seeking a Vertebrate Biologist for a tenure-track, nine-month position as Assistant Professor of Biology beginning August 2013. Candidates must be able to teach an introductory sequence in human anatomy and physiology and either comparative anatomy or developmental biology. The successful candidate will have opportunities to develop upper-level courses in his/her area of expertise, and will be expected to develop a research program involving undergraduate students, advise students, engage in scholarly activity, and perform departmental, university, and community service.
A Ph.D. in Biology, Zoology, or closely-related field and a sincere interest in teaching undergraduates are required. Teaching experience at the college level is preferred.
