LSUA employs four different types of personnel on campus.
- Faculty Members - Members of the academic staff holding rank of instructor or above and equivalent ranks. Faculty may be 9 month or 12 month employees and they may teach and/or do research.
- Professional Employees - Administrative officers and professional staff that are generally exempt from the provisions of the State Civil Service System. This category is formerly referred to as Unclassified Employees.
- Classified Employees - Employees in positions covered by the provisions of Louisiana State Civil Service System.
- Other Academic Employees - Part-time members of the academic staff or full-time members of instructional or research staff below the rank of Instructor. Examples are part-time instructors, teaching or research associates, library associates, lecturers, etc.

Position Details
Educational Technology Specialist
LSU Alexandria is seeking applicants for the vacancy of an Educational Technology Specialist position within the Information and Educational Technology (IET) Services Department. This position is responsible for, but not limited to; supporting LSUA faculty members with instructional design of online courses; implementation and administration of all electronic, academic resources including the current Content Management System – Moodle; providing training to LSUA faculty and staff on topics such as Moodle, the Microsoft Office suite, and other software and services as needed; and assisting students and faculty with issues related to educational technology.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Educational Technology, Computer Information Systems, Business Administration, Instructional Design or comparable program required. Master’s Degree or hours towards a Master’s Degree in comparable field of study is preferred. At least 2 years of Higher Education or K-12 teaching experience. Applicant should be familiar with course management systems (Moodle preffered), have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to relate to and provide training to students, faculty and staff.
