Position Details

Medical Laboratory Science Program Coordinator/Allied Health

Louisiana State University at Alexandria (LSUA) is seeking to fill the position of Medical laboratory Science Program Coordinator in the Department of Allied Health. The LSUA Medical Laboratory Science Program is accredited by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Science (NAACLS). The Program Coordinator oversees the operations of the Associate of Science in Medical Laboratory Science program and is responsible for the organization, implementation, assessment, continued development, and general effectiveness of the program. The coordinator is also responsible for assuring that the program meets NAACLS Standards.

Qualifications: Applicants for the position of Medical Laboratory Science Program Coordinator should have an earned doctorate or master’s degree; minimum of five years full time medical laboratory experience; with at least three years of experience in medical laboratory education. The applicant must be able to interface with campus departments, participate in scholarly activities, and serve as a community liaison for the program and LSUA.

LSUA employs four different types of personnel on campus.

  • Faculty Members - Members of the academic staff holding rank of instructor or above and equivalent ranks. Faculty may be 9 month or 12 month employees and they may teach and/or do research.
  • Professional Employees - Administrative officers and professional staff that are generally exempt from the provisions of the State Civil Service System. This category is formerly referred to as Unclassified Employees.
  • Classified Employees - Employees in positions covered by the provisions of Louisiana State Civil Service System.
  • Other Academic Employees - Part-time members of the academic staff or full-time members of instructional or research staff below the rank of Instructor. Examples are part-time instructors, teaching or research associates, library associates, lecturers, etc.
