Position Details

Academic Success Coordinator

The Academic Success Coordinator will work alongside the Admissions and Recruiting Office as well as the Center for Academic Success.

This position will report for the following duties to the Director of Admissions and Recruiting:
Duties of the Academic Success Coordinator include, but are not limited to:
• Selection and Training of the Student Ambassadors
• Preparation and fundraising for the Southern Regional Orientation Workshop
• Coordinating and evaluating campus tours for the Admissions and Recruiting Office
• Planning and implementing Freshman Orientation
• Planning and implementing Parent Orientation
• Compiling and reviewing orientation evaluations
• Preparing student material to be used at orientation
• Corresponding with orientation participants prior to and after orientation

This position will report for the following duties to the Director of the Center for Academic Success
Duties of the Academic Success Coordinator include, but are not limited to:
• Maintain the point of entry to the offices for the Center
• Maintain and keep current the webpages for the Center for Academic Success
• Assist with the coordination of the First Year Experience including the following courses
LSUA 1001, LSUA 3001 and LSUA 4001.
• Assist with promoting the LSUA Experience
• Assist with the coordination of the Center for Teaching Excellence activities
• Assist with the gathering and organizing of assessment data
• Assist with the organization and maintenance of records kept in the Center office
• Perform other tasks that may be assigned by the Director of Academic Success

Requirement: Baccalaureate degree

LSUA employs four different types of personnel on campus.

  • Faculty Members - Members of the academic staff holding rank of instructor or above and equivalent ranks. Faculty may be 9 month or 12 month employees and they may teach and/or do research.
  • Professional Employees - Administrative officers and professional staff that are generally exempt from the provisions of the State Civil Service System. This category is formerly referred to as Unclassified Employees.
  • Classified Employees - Employees in positions covered by the provisions of Louisiana State Civil Service System.
  • Other Academic Employees - Part-time members of the academic staff or full-time members of instructional or research staff below the rank of Instructor. Examples are part-time instructors, teaching or research associates, library associates, lecturers, etc.
