Position Details

Recruiter/Admissions Counselor

Louisiana State University at Alexandria is seeking a highly motivated, dynamic individual to recruit students to the university. The Recruiter/Admissions Counselor will join the Enrollment Services team and be responsible for planning, organizing, and conducting recruitment for the university. Responsibilities will include the following:

• Recruit potential students at college/career fairs and other recruiting events throughout the state of Louisiana. Participation in these events will include some overnight travel and working outside normal business hours.
• Counsel and admit new students to LSU Alexandria. This includes reviewing admission information and determining eligibility of applicant.
• Coordinate recruitment of transfer students, attend transfer fairs, and maintain contact with counselors from community and technical colleges.
• Correspond with potential students, guidance counselors, and parents concerning admissions and enrollment at LSU Alexandria.
• Conduct special events and campus tours to attract new students.
• Conduct registration for special programs off campus.
• Any other duties assigned by the Registrar and Director of Enrollment Services.


Desired Qualification:

• Bachelors degree in student services, education, or other academic discipline.
• Work experience in education, marketing, public relations, counseling, business or other related fields.
• Work experience in higher education.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with others.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Ability to work outside of traditional office hours

LSUA employs four different types of personnel on campus.

  • Faculty Members - Members of the academic staff holding rank of instructor or above and equivalent ranks. Faculty may be 9 month or 12 month employees and they may teach and/or do research.
  • Professional Employees - Administrative officers and professional staff that are generally exempt from the provisions of the State Civil Service System. This category is formerly referred to as Unclassified Employees.
  • Classified Employees - Employees in positions covered by the provisions of Louisiana State Civil Service System.
  • Other Academic Employees - Part-time members of the academic staff or full-time members of instructional or research staff below the rank of Instructor. Examples are part-time instructors, teaching or research associates, library associates, lecturers, etc.
